What to expect

The route uses forest paths and prepared sections, but rocks and timber can be slippery after rain. Check conditions and bring good footwear and water.

Plan your visit

Arrive early for a quieter experience, then add local food or another nearby sight to make a full day.

The Kamačnik riverside trail

The walk starts near Vrbovsko railway station and follows the river towards its Karst spring. Small wooden bridges cross the water repeatedly, making the route itself part of the experience. Even in midsummer, the gorge usually feels pleasantly cool.

For families and walkers

The trail is not technically difficult, but roots, rocks and moisture demand care. Check conditions after heavy rain. Families with small children can enjoy a shorter out-and-back section without completing the whole route.

Make a day of it

Allow two to three hours with stops. Vrbovsko works well for lunch, while nearby viewpoints and other Gorski kotar villages can extend the trip.
