Maister Tower in Zavrh is one of the best-known short-trip sights in the Lenart municipality. On the site of today’s metal tower, local residents erected a wooden tower in 1963 in memory of General Rudolf Maister. The present 17-metre tower now stands here and, on clear days, opens views toward Pohorje, Kozjak, Boč, Donačka Gora, neighbouring Croatia and even the Hungarian plains.
Zavrh is a good choice for a short outing because it combines scenery, heritage and a quiet rural setting. Nearby stands Stupičeva Vila, where General Maister reportedly spent several holidays, so the tower visit fits into the wider story of Maister’s Zavrh. The official Lenart tourism site also highlights walking and cycling routes that lead to Zavrh.
The tower area is ideal for a pause, photos and panoramic views. In 2024 the Municipality of Lenart reported upgrades to the tourism infrastructure at Zavrh, including a new asphalt parking area and improved access to the tower, so the site is easier to visit. For current conditions, events and access, check the official municipality or destination website before you go.
Maister Tower works especially well as a relaxed half-hour to one-hour stop, with the main reward being the view.
