Tolmin Gorges is one of the signature natural sights in the Tolmin area and the lowest access point in Triglav National Park. A short circular route follows the Tolminka and Zadlaščica gorges, with dramatic rock walls, pools, and famous stops such as Devil’s Bridge, Bear’s Head, the thermal spring, and Zadlaška, also called Dante’s Cave.
The walk is short but very scenic. The official description notes that the route is one-way, entering at the ticket office. There are about 500 steps and some steeper sections, so proper hiking shoes and a bit of caution are important. If you want a longer outing, you can add a visit to Dante’s Cave.
Visitor numbers are limited per time slot, so buying a ticket in advance is recommended. Tickets are available online, at the entrance ticket desk, and at the Tolmin TIC. Access is via the road from Tolmin through Zatolmin. Parking is organized at P1, P2, and P3. P1 is a paid car park near the refreshment stop, while P2 and P3 are free. In summer, a free shuttle also runs.
For individual visitors, guided tours are offered every Monday in July and August at 13:00. The guided visit lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours and costs extra. Because opening times, fees, and parking rules are seasonal, always check the official site before you go. In wet weather, the trail can be slippery. For stroller access, dog policy, and toilets, please check with the operator.
