Lake Kreda above Mojstrana

Lake Kreda is a small, tranquil lake in the Radovna Valley above Mojstrana. It formed in a former chalk extraction pit used for cement production and is now meant for viewing and resting. You can visit it as part of a walk along the Triglavska Bistrica stream or as a short standalone outing.

What to expect

The lake is linked to the Mojstrana–Peričnik walking route. From Mojstrana, follow trail no. 16 along the right bank of the Triglavska Bistrica stream, then at the marked post in the forest continue uphill on trail no. 15. The lake is a short detour from the path, so it works well as a rest stop, photo stop, and quiet nature break.

Why go

The site lies within the wider Triglav National Park setting, where nature and local heritage are closely connected. It is a small, wooded and peaceful place rather than a developed bathing spot or a place for busy activities, which makes it best suited to relaxed visits and observing the surroundings.

How to plan the visit

Lake Kreda is a good choice for an easy trip from Mojstrana, especially if you combine it with a walk to Peričnik Waterfall or a visit to the Slovenian Alpine Museum. If you want a longer day out, you can extend the walk along the Triglavska Bistrica trail.
