Odisej Planetarium on Jelenov Ridge

Odiseja, a company based in Krško, launched a new initiative this year led by an experienced team that has been involved in planetariums and planetarium shows for several years.

It is difficult for people to imagine the vastness and grandeur of the universe. A planetarium, however, is a dome-shaped space where the entire dome serves as a projection surface, enabling the display of 360° visual content. The planetarium, sometimes referred to as a spherical cinema, is the most modern planetarium and the only one in this region.

Inside the planetarium, the image stretches out like the sky above you.

Software tools enable a perfect simulation of the movement of objects in space in the past, present, and future. You can travel to the Moon and back, among the stars and constellations, through nebulae and galaxies, from the Big Bang to supernovae. Visitors thus experience a wonderful journey through the starry sky, where they feel as if they are at the center of the action. The content is suitable for all generations, ages 4 and up.

In addition to the mobile planetarium, we now have a stationary planetarium at Jelenov Greben.

We are often on the road with the mobile planetarium; we have visited more than half of Slovenia’s schools and kindergartens across the country, and you may have encountered us at various events, including in libraries, museums, and galleries.

As our team has grown over time and we’ve continuously improved our content, we felt the desire and opportunity to take a new, significant step forward. We sought out one of the most beautiful tourist locations in Slovenia, where we were warmly welcomed into the community and offered a space to provide as many people as possible with a glimpse into the universe.

Thus, on July 1, in the heart of nature on Jelenov Greben in Olimje near Podčetrtek, a new chapter in Odisej’s story began. The regular program, which we run in the afternoons during the week and all day on weekends, will be dedicated to space-related content, and we will occasionally include accompanying activities such as creative workshops for children or stargazing with telescopes.

Planetarium – A New-Generation Venue

In addition to serving as a projection surface for visual content, the planetarium’s design provides the space with unique acoustics, making it an ideal venue for various types of gatherings, from seminars and lectures to discussion evenings and musical performances. The planetarium can be reserved by individuals or companies for special events, either as a group viewing of space-related content or as a venue to surprise loved ones, friends, or colleagues.
