The mountain hut is located at the summit of Mount Lubnik, which rises steeply above Škofja Loka and is part of the Škofja Loka mountain range. The hut is open daily from March through the end of the New Year’s holidays, except on Mondays (unless it is a holiday). From January through March, it is open on weekends. The view from Lubnik is exceptionally expansive. To the east lie the Sora Plain, the Ljubljana Basin, and the Posavje Hills; to the southeast, you can see the central part of the Polhov Gradec Hills with Tošč, and Krim in the background; on the southern side lies the Poljane Valley all the way to Snežnik; to the southeast, the view extends all the way to the Julian Alps with Triglav; on the northern side, there is a view of the Gorenjska Plain with Kranj, Šmarjetna Gora, and Jošt; behind them lie the Karavanke Mountains with Golica, Stol, Begunjščica, and Košuta, as well as the Kamnik-Savinja Alps with Dobrča, Kriška Gora, Tolsti Vrh, Storžič, and Velika Planina.
