Stone Mushroom below Krn

Stone Mushroom below the village of Krn is a notable geomorphic natural value in the Municipality of Kobarid. The official register lists it as “Krn – kamnita goba” and describes it as an erosion-formed stone mushroom below the village of Krn. Its shape reflects slow weathering and erosion of the surrounding rock, while the more resistant upper part remained as the “cap”.

Why go

This is not a large attraction with visitor infrastructure. It is a compact natural curiosity with a clear geological story, best enjoyed as a short stop on a trip through the Soča Valley or as an add-on to visiting Krn and the area beneath Mount Krn.
