Stone Mushroom below the village of Krn is a notable geomorphic natural value in the Municipality of Kobarid. The official register lists it as “Krn – kamnita goba” and describes it as an erosion-formed stone mushroom below the village of Krn. Its shape reflects slow weathering and erosion of the surrounding rock, while the more resistant upper part remained as the “cap”.
This is not a large attraction with visitor infrastructure. It is a compact natural curiosity with a clear geological story, best enjoyed as a short stop on a trip through the Soča Valley or as an add-on to visiting Krn and the area beneath Mount Krn.
There are no official opening hours published for the site, as it is an outdoor natural feature. A visit makes most sense in dry weather, since rural paths can become muddy. No official entrance fee is published either; if access conditions or rules change, check with the municipality or the official tourism source before you go.
Stay on existing paths, do not climb the rock formation, and do not remove stones. Respect private land, because this is a village-area landmark rather than a managed park with visitor facilities. With children, it can be a good place for a short explanation of erosion and landscape formation.
