Learn about griffon vultures and their rescue centre at Beli on Cres. The visit supports understanding and nature conservation.
Beli Visitor Centre introduces the large birds closely connected with the Kvarner islands. An exhibition in a former school links griffon vultures with northern Cres and explains why they need help. The purpose is to understand their environment, rather than attend an animal performance.
Look for the story of rescue and rehabilitation in the displays. With children, start by asking what scavengers contribute to nature. Workshops and access to particular rescue areas depend on the centre’s arrangements and should not be assumed to accompany every admission.

Allow around one to one and a half hours for the exhibition and a quiet pause. Plan transport to Cres and any ferry separately. When watching birds elsewhere on the island, avoid disturbing nesting sites; visiting the centre does not guarantee sightings in the wild.
June–August daily 10–18. April–May and 1 September–14 October 10–16; 1 January–31 March and 15 October–31 December 10–14. Closed Mondays outside summer, plus 1 January, Easter, 1 November and 24–26 December.

Educational centre with a rescue facility; a visit does not guarantee close contact with birds or wild-vulture sightings.
The suggested duration is an editorial allowance for an unhurried visit, not an official tour length. For a family outing, choose a few details to explore together and leave time for questions. Before travelling, check current hours, admission and booking arrangements on the official website linked below. Ask the operator about pushchairs, toilets and dog access; their availability is not confirmed in this guide. Follow signs and staff instructions at the site.
