Gregorčičev Waterfall is one of the best-known natural sights above the village of Vrsno and Selce in the Municipality of Tolmin. In the official 2024 report by Turizem Dolina Soče, a new viewing approach to the waterfall was arranged on the Selce side, confirming it remains an active and visited excursion point.
The waterfall is named after the poet Simon Gregorčič, who was born here. An older academic source states that the waterfall is 88 metres high and among the better-known waterfalls in the area below the Krn massif. The wider area includes several waterfalls, so this is a good choice for a short nature outing or for combining with a visit to Vrsno.
The visit is best treated as a short hike or scenic stop. Since the access path and viewing area were upgraded in 2024 with new steps and a wooden railing, access should be safer than before, but visitors should still check the current trail condition directly with the local tourism provider or official source, especially after storms.
For photos, clear days after rain or early morning are usually best, with fewer visitors. As this is a natural site, proper footwear is recommended and caution is needed on wet sections.
If you want to extend the outing, combine it with Vrsno, which is closely linked to Simon Gregorčič, or with other waterfalls and viewpoints in the Tolmin side of the Soča Valley.
