Idrija Valleys – Masore is an interesting trip idea. This page includes a short description, location, photos and basic visit information.
The Idrija Valley is a place of which we locals are particularly proud. That is precisely why we are happy to introduce it to every visitor.
If you decide to visit us and see the beauty of nature and the work of hardworking hands and innovative approaches, we have prepared a guided tour of Idrijske Krnice for groups, including visits to local producers of agricultural produce and products.
We will introduce you to the village, which lies high above Spodnja Idrija and is reached via a winding, ascending road. On the way to the village, there will be plenty of time for you to learn all about Idrijske Krnice, its residents, and other points of interest.
Even before the road takes you all the way to the top, you’ll stop to tour a medicinal plant garden, where Lara from the House of Herbs will welcome you with warm tea and a morning “strong” pick-me-up. She’ll introduce you to her work, guide you through the aromatic herb garden, and chat with you about the uses of medicinal plants. After the first stop, you’ll drive together to the second location of the House of Herbs, where you’ll climb Markov Hill—a viewpoint that, in good weather, offers magnificent views, ranging from the Carnic and Julian Alps, Triglav and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps to the Karawanks, toward Ljubljana to Krim, and southward to Snežnik and Učka. Here, your host will offer you a taste of herbal bread and a drink, as well as the opportunity to purchase products from the House of Herbs.
You will continue through the village and stop at the small church of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. The highlights of this small but beautiful church are the mosaics by the renowned artist Father Marko Ivan Rupnik. From here, you’ll also enjoy a beautiful view of the well-kept farms nestled among the hills and valleys.
Just a little further down, along the main road, PR' KENDU will be waiting for you with a tasting of their dairy delicacies—cheeses, yogurts, and other dairy products. They will introduce you to their farm and cheese-making activities. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase their products (cheese, grilled cheese, cottage cheese, whey, plain and fruit yogurts, spreads, milk, whey, etc.).
We’re confident you’ll leave satisfied and return to visit us again.
