A small islet near Punat with a Franciscan monastery, greenery and a quiet historical atmosphere.

Košljun is a small excursion islet in Puntarska Draga near Punat, shaped by its Franciscan monastery, museum collections and very calm atmosphere. It can only be reached by sea, with the closest departure point on the Punat waterfront.

Why visit Košljun

Košljun suits travellers who want a short heritage stop combined with greenery and a slower pace. You can visit the monastery, cloister, church and museums, while the island itself feels like a quiet natural refuge. The official tourism description also presents it as an ecological reserve.

How the visit works

According to the monastery, a typical visit takes about one hour, though you may stay longer. Boats run from Punat; on Sundays and holidays Mass is at 9:30 and the boat leaves at 9:00, with no charge for that transport. For other visits, boat transport must be arranged separately. The islet is accessible only by sea.

Planning notes

Košljun has different summer and winter opening hours, so check the official website before you go. The island contains three museum collections, a library and a church, and the entry fee helps support the island and monastery. If you need to visit outside opening hours, the monastery asks you to call first.

Košljun is best for a peaceful, short visit and works well as an add-on to a day in Punat or on the southern side of Krk.
