Profile Description

The Grmovšek Lodge below Velika Kopa is located on the westernmost and highest part of Pohorje, connecting the Mislinja and Drava valleys. The lodge below Kopa was built and opened on November 7, 1937, and has become an important stop for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts. The lodge is open year-round. The rooms are simple but very cozy. Each room has a sink; restrooms and showers are shared on each floor. You can choose between 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, and 6-bed rooms. Facilities include a dining room, a hunting room with a fireplace, central heating, electricity, and a telephone. From Velika Kopa, the second-highest peak of Pohorje, a panoramic view opens up in all directions. Extensive ski resorts and ski lifts are nearby. To the east and northeast, on a clear day, the entire Pohorje ridge stretches all the way to Maribor; to the north, the Austrian Alps; to the west and south, the Mislinja Valley with Slovenj Gradec; to the west, Peca, Olševa, Uršlja Gora,  Raduha, and to the southwest, Velenje, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Menina Planina, and Golte.  

Notable hikes: – to Pavčkova bolnica – 2 hrs. – Church of St. Bolfenk – 1 hr 30 mins.
