Kamniška Hut on the Kamnik Saddle – 1,864 m

The hut stands on the sunny side just below the ridge of the Kamnik Saddle (1,903 m), which connects Planjava and Brana. Some also refer to the saddle as Jermanova vrata, a name that originated during the time of the bandits. The Kamnik branch of the SPD began preparations for the hut’s construction as early as 1902, and it was completed and opened on August 12, 1906.

The hut is open from mid-June to mid-October. From October to June, members of the Kamnik Mountaineering Association are on duty on nice weekends. They announce the hut’s opening status via the association’s website.

From the top of the pass, there is a panoramic view in all directions. To the east, the western ridge of Planjava rises nearby, with Ojstrica visible to the left behind it; to the south, we see the basin between Planjava and Brana, which locals call Pastirci, and beyond it, the extensive forested slopes descending into the Kamniška Bistrica valley; on the other side of the valley rise the eastern forested slopes of Krvavec; to the west, Brana rises nearby, and to the right of it, above Kotliči, is Turska Gora; the most beautiful view is toward the north: below us lies the vast area of Okrešlje, and above it rises Mrzla Gora; we have a clear view of the Rinka waterfall, which cascades over a rocky ledge; slightly to the right below Okrešlje, the entire Logarska Valley comes into view; behind it we see Olševa, to the right above the valley the Krofičke group, and to the left the mountain ridge above Matkov kot.

Access by car:
Take the local road from Stahovica to Kamniška Bistrica to the lodge in Kamniška Bistrica, 8 km; to the Kamniška Lodge, 3 hours 30 minutes.
From the regional road from Luče to the Pavličevo sedlo border crossing, into the Logarska Valley, 7 km, via Okrešelj – 2 hours 30 minutes.
