Profile Description

The Lavrič Hut stands on the southern slope of Gradišče Hill (519 m), just below its summit, near the Church of St. Nicholas, which was first mentioned in 1250. There was already a settlement here in prehistoric times. At its general meeting in 1987, the Šentvid pri Stični Mountaineering Association decided to take over the former Lavrič hunting lodge on Gradišče from the Šentvid Auto-Moto Association with the aim of renovating it and adapting it for mountaineering purposes. The lodge is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 8 a.m. until evening. The dining area has 20 seats and a bar with a counter; there are 60 seats at tables in front of the lodge; there is no overnight accommodation; there is an outdoor restroom; the dining area is heated by a stove, with running water and a generator for electricity.

View: From Gradišče, there is a beautiful view from the southeast to the southwest; on the other side, there is no view because it is obscured by the forest. To the southeast, the Gorjanci Mountains are visible on the horizon, and before them lies the vast Dolenjska Hills. On the southern side, we can see the Stiški kot plain with Ivančna Gorica and the Višnjica Valley with Muljava, the Krka River valley, and above it the hills of the Suha krajina region with Ciganov vrh and Mala gora; on the horizon are Kočevski Rog, Stojno and Goteniška Gora with Goteniški Snežnik, and far in the background, Bjelolasica, Risnjak, and Snježnik. To the right of Goteniška Gora, Snežnik rises behind the Notranjska hills; to the southwest, we can see Polževo and Kurešček nearby, with the Javorniki visible in the background

– Pristava (695 m) – 1 hr 30 min. – Bogenšperk Castle (412 m), via Pristava and Javorje – 3 hrs.
– Muljava (313 m), via Ivančna Gorica – 2 hrs.
– Stiški Monastery (357 m) – 30 min.
– Katujški or Brezovški Kevderc Cave (described by Josip Jurčič in Memories of My Grandfather – "The cave through which one enters the other world") – 15 min.
