Pepin's Karst Garden and the Teran Circular Trail

Profile Description

The gardens showcase the preservation and protection of natural and cultural heritage, as well as the conservation of the Karst region as a unique example of a cultural landscape where tradition is intertwined with a high degree of artistry and tells the story of the Karst people… Pepin’s Karst Garden received the highest rating and a gold medal in the small garden category at the 2009 Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the second most important horticultural event in the world. 13 Pepin’s Garden is designed using traditional artisanal materials and plants characteristic of the Karst landscape, and is intended for active relaxation in the countryside. With its distinctive architectural structure, the garden showcases a respectful, nature-friendly way of life for people in rural areas. In addition to Pepin’s Karst Garden, you can also visit Pepin’s Story, which received a gold medal in the Artisan Gardens category at the 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. Here, designer Borut Benedejčič reached back into the past and created a simple stone shepherd’s shelter in the middle of a Karst meadow. This fairy tale about the Karst and its people is now on display in the courtyard of the Bunčet Homestead in Dutovlje. Visiting hours: Friday–Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Groups may also tour the gardens outside of these hours by prior arrangement.   Teran Circular Trail A walk along easy forest and village paths offers a journey through history, indigenous architecture, the natural beauty of the Karst landscape, and the culture of the local people. dsc02742_-1 The Teran Circular Trail follows the cycle of the vine and the associated work in the vineyards, which is why the beautiful views and paths through the vineyards attract visitors all year round. An easy trail. 635805178246409094_tomaj_648109 The Teran Circular Trail begins “in the square” in front of the Bunčet Homestead, a building with a long history that now houses the Karst Tourist Association, the Dutovlje Local Community, and the Sežana Tourist Information Center (TIC).
